Golden Houses Developments Shortlisted for NFB Awards as the only company solely run by a Woman

Further recognition for Golden Houses Developments' unique and successful approach

In only its sixth year, Golden Houses Developments has been recognised once again for its high-quality work in successfully fulfilling an unsatisfied need - prestigious, high-end residential new builds and multi-unit developments.

The company has been shortlisted for the following award categories for the National Federation of Builders (NFB) Awards 2018 and it is the only Finalist in entire Awards solely run by a Woman:

- Inspirational Individual Award – Monika Slowikowska
- Training Programme of the Year Award
- Construction Employer of the Year Award
- House Builder of the Year Award

"It's overwhelming to have been nominated in such a broad selection of awards." said the firm's founder and director, Monika Slowikowska, "It shows that we have really got it right with our underlying culture and ethos, not just design and construction."

This is even more evident given that the NFB Award shortlist is drawn up by a panel of expert judges from a large number of applicants.

This success comes hot on the heels of two awards won in 2017 at the London Construction Awards. Golden Houses Developments won the London Build Excellence Award and Monika won the Women in Construction Award.

Started by Monika in 2012, Golden Houses takes a different approach to building. It aims to reduce conflict throughout projects, lowering costs and reducing timescales, which subsequently allows very high standards of design, construction and finish - all of which she recognises is very important to her clients.

A key element of her approach is to use in-house teams rather than contractors wherever possible and teamwork is undoubtedly a factor in the company's success, achieved in very competitive London’s market.

Turnover in year four was six times that of the first year and the company has been featured on Channel 4's Ugly House programme and has also made the cover of ELLE Decoration.

Despite her recognition as the inspirational driving force, Monika is quick to recognise everyone's contribution.

"I'm elated to be a finalist for all four awards." she added, "Much of the company’s success is down to my talented and loyal team, we really share a love for the work that we do. It demonstrates the exceptionally high level of employee satisfaction within the company which transfers to quality of my teams work and effectiveness”.

“The fact that Golden Houses Developments is the only finalist in the entire awards solely run by a woman is a victory for all women. It shows that we are great at what we do and work very hard to achieve success but rarely we are recognised. When this happens, it helps others to break ‘glass ceilings’ and believe in themselves. Thank you NFB Awards to helping in that break.”

Monika also focusses on building excellent customer relationships despite not having been able to speak English when she arrived from8z Poland. She subsequently worked in engineering and construction companies before launching Golden Houses.

The winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at The Belfry Hotel & Resort, Sutton Coldfield, on Tuesday 27 March 2018.
