Premier League Executive Chairman supports The Sound Doctor
Premier League Executive Chairman supports The Sound Doctor

Attendees of a recent event organised by multimedia health education experts, The Sound Doctor, were amongst the first to hear the news of a new, exciting partnership between the Premier League and the BBC to inspire primary school children to get more active throughout the day.

Richard Scudamore, Executive Chairman of the Premier League was one of the speakers at the medical filmmaker’s event in Cirencester.

The Premier League and BBC initiative, called Super Movers, was launched in January 2018 and will bring stars from the worlds of football, music and television together in fun, free and easy-to-follow educational videos which will capture children’s imaginations. The content is designed to help teachers to get children moving throughout the day with a series of routines and activities.

This news is particularly suited to The Sound Doctor event. The organisation’s core work is in creating effective and accessible films to improve information and education about different health conditions and therefore help people look after themselves better. These are widely used by the NHS, Councils, GP surgeries and individuals.

Mr Scudamore praised the work of The Sound Doctor, saying, "What they are doing is brilliant. We are in the age of video and digital information where people want to watch and learn. What they are doing is making self-learning accessible."

The films that The Sound Doctor’s team produces make a valuable, positive difference to many people’s healthcare. Very successful evaluations of these films carried out in several Clinical Commissioning Groups show significant reductions in visits to the doctor and avoidable hospital admissions.

Also present at the event was Professor Patrick Maxwell, Regius Professor of Physic and Head of the School of Clinical Medicine at Cambridge University. He gave a fascinating talk on medical innovation and the changes we will see over the next 20 years in the way medicine is practiced, in particular the use of genome profiling to identify and understand diseases.

Listening to these sessions were a number of influential guests, including council members, practitioners, journalists and local business leaders. All were keen to engage in the Company’s ideas and the future of digital health.
