Llanishen Hub open for business next week

A new community hub, offering more and better services to customers, opens in Llanishen next week.

Llanishen Hub, the city's third new community hub to open this year after Llandaff North and Gabalfa and the Powerhouse Hub in Llanedeyrn, will welcome customers on Monday, November 27 at 9am.

The new community facility, located on the ground floor of Llanishen police station on Station Road, is a partnership project with South Wales Police and the Police & Crime Commissioner.

The ground floor has been refurbished and remodelled to accommodate library services and children's corner, housing and benefit services, public access PCs, IT suite, interview rooms and a community room.

Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Lynda Thorne, said: "The new hub is right at the heart of Llanishen village and is extremely well-placed to serve the surrounding community.

"Llanishen is the latest area to benefit from our network of hubs which have proved very successful across the city, delivering joined-up, customer- focussed services from high quality, accessible facilities.

"Once again, we are very pleased to have worked with South Wales Police and Police & Crime Commissioner to deliver the new hub. Our partnership in Llanedeyrn at the Powerhouse Hub is going very well and we are delighted once again with this collaboration which has resulted in another fantastic facility for the community."

Divisional Commander for Cardiff, Chief Superintendent Belinda Davies said: "We are really excited about the opportunities that a local community hub will generate and becoming even more accessible to the community we serve.

"It gives our officers a fantastic fit for purpose base from which they can conduct all of their day to day business."

Cllr Thorne will be joined by Police and Crime Commissioner, Alun Michael, at the official opening of the hub on Wednesday, November 29.

Llanishen's Christmas lights will be switched on that evening when the hub will extend its opening hours until 7.30pm to give the community a chance to have a look around the new facility and find out more about the services on offer.
