"Didn't they do well!" was the sentiment following a series of special events in Stafford to celebrate National Older People's Day.

A week of activities organised by Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH) were based on a theme of ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing', and concluded with a competition based on a classic TV game show.

Hosted by the late, great Bruce Forsyth, the Generation Game is fondly remembered by millions of Britons and a competition based on its conveyor belt challenge proved a great way for SARH customers at Jubilee Court to test their memory skills.

Elaine Tomlinson, Extra Care Manager at the SARHomes Independent Living Scheme, explained:"Every year we invite our customers to join us in celebrating Older People's Day and this year we wanted to expand the campaign by encouraging people to connect with each other, keep learning, stay active and to take notice of the world around them.

"Events were held at schemes across the area and concluded with the event at Jubilee Court, which included a delicious lunch, quizzes, and our version of the famous Generation Game conveyor belt - complete with a cuddly toy!"

The ‘5 Ways to Wellbeing' campaign, has helped Independent Living customers to join in the activities designed to help people enjoy healthier lifestyles, start exercising more or to take up a new hobby.

Karen Armitage, SARH Chief Executive, added:"Older people make a fantastic contribution to our community, and events like this give us the chance to celebrate all they have achieved whilst providing a boost for their health and wellbeing."
