Icelandic health team takes tips from Milton Keynes services

A delegation from Iceland has been visiting CNWL's services across Milton Keynes and Bletchley.

The 15 strong foreign contingent visited a mix of older people's services, children's services and inpatient and community mental health services to gain a greater understanding of how the health and social care system works in England, particularly in how to keep people healthy at home rather than having people go straight to hospital acute care.

They looked at a number of different clinical services and were given presentations by senior staff about how each service worked.

The two areas are broadly similar in terms of numbers, but unlike Milton Keynes, the Icelandic population is very spread out.

Ruth Weetman, Service Director for Community Health Services in Milton Keynes, said: "We know our services are high performing but to receive these types of visits is a much-needed boost in the arm for our staff as it proves their work is being recognised overseas.
