Road closures this weekend (August 5th and 6th)
 

On Saturday, the Festival of Chariots Parade celebrating Cardiff's 12thanniversary of the Ratha Yatra will take place between 1pm and 5pm in Bute Park.

The Ratha Yatra is celebrated in 500 cities across the world and is an ancient spiritual festival originating from Sagannath Puri in India.

Before the celebrations start in Bute Park, there will be a parade which will start at City Hall. To facilitate this event rolling roads closures will be in place.

The following roads will be closed 12 Noon and 1.15pm until the parade passes through:

  • North Road southbound and northbound at the junction with Boulevard de Nantes

  • Boulevard de Nantes westbound at the junction with North Road

  • Kingsway

  • Duke Street north eastbound at the junction with Kingsway.

The event will then take place at Bute Park offering music, dance, meditation and a free vegetarian feast.

On Sunday the HSBC City Ride will take place at Cardiff Bay. This free to enter family friendly bike ride is run by British Cycling, with their ambition to get 2 million more people onto their bikes by 2020.

This is the first time this event has come to Wales and was officially launched on July 25thby Becky James the Rio Olympics double silver medallist.

The following roads will be closed from 5am until 8pm

  • Lloyd George Avenue from the junction with Hemingway Road to the junction with Bute Place

  • Bute Place

  • Britannia Quay

  • Harbour Drive.
