Improvement works to Ruthin Gardens will start at the end of the month as part of the Cathays Regeneration Project after funding was secured via the Landfill Communities Fund scheme.

The project, which will see local residents benefit from enhanced facilities and improved green spaces has been developed by Cardiff Council and South Wales Police alongside other local organisations.

Following two consultation periods in 2016, the work will include a new circular bench, new paving and bollards, access improvements, an information board and areas of wildflower planting to improve the environment and discourage illegal parking.

Cabinet Member for Culture & Leisure, Cllr Peter Bradbury, said: "Improving the quality of green spaces can have a real impact on local communities. The work being done to Ruthin Gardens aims to transform what is currently a little used public space, into somewhere that all local residents can enjoy."

Project funding for Ruthin Gardens was provided by Community Funding Resources Ltd and enabled by Cardiff City Council, through the Landfill Communities Fund scheme.

Funding is actively been sought to complete the proposed improvements to Llanbleddian Gardens and Cogan Gardens.
