Cardiff city centre Tourist Information Centre to re-open

The Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in Cardiff city centre is re-opening next week.

The TIC based in the Old Library on The Hayes is the ultimate destination for visitors and residents to find out what to see and do in Cardiff with experienced, multi-lingual staff on hand from 9am on Monday, May 29.

The new centre adds to the existing Tourist Information Centre in the Wales Millennium Centre Cardiff Bay.

Visitors to the TIC in the Hayes will be encouraged to log on to the VisitCardiff.com website via iPads and a large, accessible touchscreen.

Visit Cardiff is the official destination organisation for the city that promotes Cardiff to the world as a great city to work, live, study and invest.

From leisure to major events, business tourism and inward investment, VisitCardiff.com is the official destination website which is targeted at visitors, residents and the tourism business in and around South East Wales, earning one million unique visitors annually.

VisitCardiff.com is a one-stop-shop to find everything needed to make the most of a visit to Cardiff with a wealth of information and ideas on events, where to eat and drink, shopping, where to stay and the many sports facilities available in the city.

At the TIC, there will also be lots of free Cardiff Visitor maps and leaflets available and, as well as finding out about everything that's going on in Cardiff, visitors will be able to buy the Cardiff Visitor Card which features discounts at a variety of shops, attractions and restaurants and costs just £4 and is valid for a whole month.

Cardiff welcomes around 20 million day visitors a year and is a hub and gateway to the wider city region and often the gateway to Wales for many visitors.

All year round, the many city attractions, hotels, restaurants, bars, theatres and shops provide a warm welcome and a wealth of information for visitors and residents.

The TIC is in the same building as the Cardiff Story Museum and next to Bodlon, a shop specialising in Welsh products from Welsh designers, artists, authors, poets and food and drink producers. Yr Hen Lyfrgell, Cardiff's Welsh Culture Centre, is a natural place to be located and aligned to the various activity and events taking place in the Centre.

People who want to volunteer their time to help support the TIC operation in the city centre alongside the volunteers at The Cardiff Story Museum and the Welsh Culture Centre Yr Hen Lyfrgell are encouraged to do so.

From Monday, May 29, opening times at the Centre at the Old Library are Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm, and Sunday, 10am to 4pm.

Opening times at the Tourist Information Centre based at the Wales Millennium Centre are Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm (7.30pm if there is a show on at the Centre) and Sunday, 10am to 4pm.
