Boomtown Fair Is The First UK Festival To Use Split Ticketing To Reduce The Cost of Rail Travel.

Boomtown Fair is a 60,000 capacity multi genre, multi generational music and theatrical experience like none other! Taking place over the 10th- 13thAugust, in Hampshire, the festival has teamed up with Raileasy, the split ticket specialists, in an innovative scheme designed to help festival goers save money.

Split tickets enable rail goers to save significant amounts by breaking their journey down into separate legs where the aggregate cost can often be a lot cheaper than buying a "through" ticket.  They often travel on the same train and at the same time but just carry a few extra tickets.

Boomtown is held at the beautiful Matterley Estate near Winchester and Raileasy have set-up a dedicated rail booking site atboomtown.trainsplit.com.

"We are always eager to find ways of helping our visitors and the split ticket solution is a great way of cutting the cost of getting to the festival.  We also hope it will encourage people to come by rail and reduce the number of cars on the road." says Emma Veitch - Boomtown's Commercial Manager.

The cost of a standard return ticket from Birmingham to Winchester is around £78.00 but, with a split ticket from Raileasy, the price drops to around £67.00 - a saving of @£11.00.

Over the past couple of years Raileasy have found an average additional split saving of just under 30% and, if the tickets are bought in combination with a 16-25 travelcard, rail travel can be even cheaper.

Kip Parker, Raileasy's Head Of Business Development said "Split ticketing is changing the way people plan their rail travel and we think that Boomtown are the first UK festival to have their own scheme. It's not just for Boomtown though as festivals goers can actually use the site to book rail travel anywhere in the UK at any time".

Notes For Editors.

Boomtown Fair is one of the most experimental and imaginative festivals in the world. The 60,000 capacity independent event is an eclectic, multi-genre music festival held near Winchester, Hampshire. Unrivalled in its originality and diversity, the festival brings together reggae, ska, folk, grime, garage, house, jungle, drum & bass, electro-swing and more. Boundless creativity transforms an area of the English countryside into a phenomenal alternative world, creating a temporary city and civilisation complete with districts (and inhabitants therein) that each have their own unique character and musical environment; be it the reggae of Trenchtown, the bass-heavy Sector 6, or the gypsy-folk of the Old Town.   Each year a fantastical new chapter is written in its history.

Trainsplit are part of Raileasy who have been retailing train tickets on-line since 2007. Raileasy are a fully accredited third party license holder, licensed by the RDG (Rail Delivery Group).
