Last chance to register for the Dragon Boat Race

Eighteen teams have registered for the Dragon Boat Race in Atlantic Wharf on the 14th of May.

The teams of up to 20 people will be competing in the world’s fastest growing water sport whilst raising money for the Lord Mayor’s chosen charity Cancer Research Wales.

It’s not too late to be part of the fun which will include children’s entertainment, music and food stalls. Late team entries can still register here and spectators will be welcome on the day to enjoy the competitive fun. Parking is available in the County Hall car park.

Nation Radio is a sponsor of this event and the radio’s breakfast presenters Carl Hughes and Rachel Chew will be broadcasting live from the Dragon Boat Race.

The Rt. Hon The Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Cllr Monica Walsh said: “It’s not too late to register a team for this festival and I am told that no previous experience of dragon boat racing is needed.  Also the boats, on the day training, paddles, buoyancy aids and qualified helm operators will be provided by the event operators Race the Dragon. The work done by Cancer Research Wales is such a good cause and this is a great opportunity to do some good and have some fun at the same time.”

Cardiff Dragon Boat Festival is taking place on Sunday 14th May between 10am and 4pm. There will be three qualifying heats and each team’s fastest time will be used to determine who qualifies for the Grand Final.
