Entries open for Hornsea charity sportive

Entries are now open for the sixth annual William's Farm Kitchen Charity Cycle Challenge that takes place on 11thJune.

Raising valuable funds for Hornsea Rotary, the charity sportive features two routes of 60k and 100k that are equally enjoyable for beginners and experienced cyclists alike.

The ride starts and finishes at Hornsea Freeport andtakes the cyclists through winding lanes reminiscent of Europe's cycling heartlands of Belgium and Holland. William's Farm Kitchen will be hosting the event feed station and providing a range of sustenance including their award winning homemade flapjack and cold drinks to keep you hydrated. The event concludes with a BBQ and a complimentary pint of Hello Velo, Wold Top Brewery's cycling inspired beer.

Co-organiser of the event and William's Farm Kitchen owner, Mark Farnsworth, said: "We're delighted to host this popular sportive for the sixth consecutive year and to have raised over £4,000 since 2011 to support the great work that Hornsea Rotary does in the local area."

Experienced cyclist David Hought from Beverley rode the sportive for the first time in 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed it: "It made a pleasant change to the more challenging hilly routes we normally ride in the Wolds.  The ‘flatlands' of Holderness makes for a perfect day on the bike. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned rider, you can't fail but to enjoy the quiet back roads! Of course, the beer and burger on the return and catching up with friends always caps the day off nicely!!"
