New 3D print material from IPF extends possibilities for medical technology applications

3D printing and plastic CNC machining specialist, Industrial Plastics Fabrication Limited, has added the revolutionary Agilius30 polymer to its portfolio of advanced 3D print materials. One of the latest generations of materials from Stratasys, Agilus30 can be used to create 3D printed parts that offer realistic rubber-like qualities of flexibility and durability. The new material has numerous applications in medical technology, either for prototyping or in component production.

Available in black and translucent, the new material family is ideal for modelling parts for design verification and testing, or to create flexible components of production quality. Due to a tear resistance of up to 7kg per cm and elongation of up to 270%, components created in Agilus30 are able to withstand repeated flexing and bending. Agilus30 can be used to simulate rubber over-moulding or a huge variety of functional parts such as living hinges, hoses, seals and gaskets, knobs, grips, pulls, and handles. It has excellent heat resistance and can be combined with other materials to achieve specific Shore A hardness values, colours and textures for maximum versatility.

IPF is one of the first companies in the UK to offer Agilus30 to its customers. Founded in 1969, the North London firm is renowned for its precision plastic machining and fabrication techniques, and is a leading exponent of 3D printing and the production of plastic components for medical technology applications. The company offers a full range of 3D printing services, including high-end Polyjet, Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Stereo lithography (SLA). Alongside 3D Print, IPF Ltd offers a number of specialised manufacturing processes such as diffusion bonding, a method of fusing layers of pre-machined acrylic together at a molecular level without the use of adhesives or solvents to achieve clear, strong joints and parts that are free from contamination.

IPF will be exhibiting at Med-Tech Innovation Expo 2017 (26th& 27thApril, Richo Arena, Coventry). Highlighted on stand 9 will be examples of 3D Printed parts using Agilus30, alongside examples of its Diffusion Bonding and wide-ranging expertise in the precision machining, laser engraving and UV printing of plastic components to the highest specifications.
