PSYCHOTHERAPIST OFFERS HEALTH AND WELLBEING ADVICE AND ITS ALL BASED ON LAUGHING

PRESS RELEASE

GLOUCESTERSHIRE PSYCHOTHERAPIST OFFERS HEALTH AND WELLBEING ADVICE AND ITS ALL BASED ON LAUGHING MORE

One of Gloucestershire's top psychotherapist's, Lorna Denton, says that we all need to laugh more to release stress and to boost our overall health and wellbeing.

March is a month of happiness and laughter with 20thMarch marking International Happiness Day and 24thMarch being Red Nose Day.

On the International Day of Happiness, people are asked to pledge to help others be happier and to take actions to help others and especially those less fortunate, which Lorna says is a great idea. ‘The real power of The Day of Happiness is best seen when it is shared with others. You can promote happiness by creating activities that bring lots of people together or even by just doing one thing to brighten one extra person's day and bring a smile to their face. It's amazing how this then makes you feel.'

Lorna encourages everyone to let their hair down for Red Nose Day - and beyond. ‘Laughter has been shown to improve our physical and emotional wellbeing. It decreases stress hormones and triggers the release of endorphins (feel good chemicals). It can also temporarily relieve pain! From a psychological point of view laughing with others connects us and helps us bond.

‘We tend to like people who make us laugh more and often find them more attractive. It can also help with depression as laughter promotes the release of dopamine in our brain which improves mood. Plus, it is really infectious and it's hard not to smile if someone is laughing. Don't let the joy of laughter diminish - why not see if you can bring about the power of laughter every day?'

Lorna has helped hundreds of people from Gloucestershire and further afield that have walked into her consulting room to make significant and lasting changes to their lives. She achievesthis by using innovative and exciting techniques, including positive psychology and clinical hypnotherapy, to enable her clients to develop a positive and powerful mindset.
