TRAIN FARE PRICE HIKES CALCULATED BY OVER 200,000 TRAVELLERS.

Government approved 2017 train fare rises went up by 2.7% on average, compared to 1.9% in 2016. Canny online ticket buyers sought information as to how to beat high prices.

Some 220,000 have found a clever calculating tool on the independent booking site TrainSplit. This site was started by train buffs to find the best routes, times and savings. They offer ‘split ticket' savings on 71% of journeys which provide an average additional savings of 28% or £26.94 compared to any other train booking site.

Trainsplit's ‘Fare Rise Calculator' shows how some journey's prices had massively increased. Clever passengers are finding that by shopping around before booking, savings can really add up.
