Latest data breach highlights dangers for legal profession
Last weeks' revelation from Three Mobile of the compromise of data on 6 million of its customers via the inappropriate use of an employee login provides the starkest evidence yet of the threat facing companies from within. Legal professionals and their clients, by virtue of the sensitive data they routinely handle, are among the most vulnerable to data theft. Yet very few firms are currently using the appropriate technology to combat the kind of threats that are becoming commonplace.

The UK government's Information Security Breaches Survey 2015 found that a staggering 75% of large businesses and 30% of small firms had suffered employee-related data breaches - either acting maliciously to misuse data to which they had access, or accidentally through inadequate password security or the physical loss of a mobile device that subsequently falls into the wrong hands. Conveyancing fraud is another example of how easy it is for criminals to compromise privileged communications between clients and legal professionals by exploiting poor online privacy protection.

Since 2013, VIPOLE has been providing secure communications software to defeat threats like conveyancing fraud and employee data theft. The firm has recently announced new features for its Enterprise communications platform which can dramatically reduce the risk of such data breaches while making it easy for firms to deploy, manage and use.

VIPOLE Enterprise is a multi-function, business-oriented end-to-end encrypted communications suite, which features secure instant messaging, file sharing, calendars and secure password management amongst its arsenal of powerful data protection tools. VIPOLE is the only secure messenger designed specifically for commercial applications, and is the only one which allows fine-grain administrative control over individual user's security settings. In VIPOLE, it's possible for stored data, conversations, group conferences and passwords to be completely locked-down with unbreakable encryption, or accessible by authorised administrators for compliance purposes. Other features allow sensitive data to be remote-wiped from compromised devices, making it ideal for use by a mobile workforce in a "bring your own device" (BYOD) environment. The latest version of VIPOLE Enterprise now has LDAP integration, enabling it to be very quickly rolled-out across an organisation while allowing employees to retain their existing usernames and passwords.

VIPOLE is a UK company that provides secure communications for individuals and enterprises. With enhanced security and extended functionality, VIPOLE unites teams and ensures privacy for those handling sensitive data. For more information, please visit the website https://www.vipole.com/en/.
