School works with SARH to send message to the future

Budding time travellers at a Stafford school have been working with the town's largest landlord to send a message to the future.

During a school assembly children at Silkmore Primary Academy had their picture taken for a time capsule that will be created to celebrate the next stage of a major regeneration project led by Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH).

As part of the initiative Laura MacPhee, Customer Involvement Advisor and Kirsty Wareham, Asset Management Officer at SARH attended the school to talk to the 165 children about the development, known as Total Place, that's driving rejuvenation in the Exeter Street area.

"Many children at the school have already noticed how the area has improved over the last year or so, and many live in new and refurbished homes managed by SARH. It's great to see local children getting involved and coming up with new ideas on how to celebrate this transformation," Laura said.

"During our visit pupils fed in their thoughts on what could go into the capsule, they have already worked on creating pictures depicting their favourite TV programmes."

The time capsule was donated by developers Jessup Brothers, the housing association's construction partners at Silkmore Gardens, a development of new homes in Exeter Street.

Sarah Mills, Headteacher at Silkmore Primary Academy, said: "Children and staff have enjoyed being creative and collecting items to include in the capsule. They were also excited to hear about these plans for their community."
