A coven of witches and a masked bandit were amongst the spooky characters who have helped to raise cash for a worthy cause during a Halloween party organised by

Staged by staff and customers at Longhope Drive, one of 18 Independent Living Schemes managed by Stafford and Rural Homes (SARH), the event included pumpkin carving and a Halloween-themed quiz.

Meanwhile a raffle and cake sale raised over £50 for A Child of Mine, the housing associations adopted charity for 2016.So far, in its tenth anniversary year, SARH has raised£2,240for the charity that provides help and support for bereaved parents.

Following the event, GraceHammond, SARH Independent Living Co-ordinator, said: "A great time was had by all involved and we were delighted to see around a dozen staff and customers dressing up for the occasion.

"This is one of the many activities organised throughout the year at our Independent Living schemes that help to build a real sense of community."

Like similar specialist schemes managed by SARH in Stafford and surrounding areas, Longhope Drive delivers high quality independent living services for older SARH customers.

Kathy Jones, Head of Independent Living at SARH, said: "Events such as this, as well as raising money for a very worthy cause and strengthening the sense of community, have an important role to play in keeping people active. In turn, this has a real positive impact on their health and wellbeing."
