LOCAL RESIDENT AWARDED STAR BAKER IN NATIONAL GREAT BRITISH ‘BARK OFF’ COMPETITION

Southwater resident Emma Clifford has been named star baker in the Great British Bark Off this week, a national dog-friendly baking contest run by premium pet food brand Barking Heads.

Emma’s dog biscuits were picked for their outstanding presentation; she based her batch on human-biscuit tin favourites, such as Bourbons. Emma’s winning photo entry featured bunting similar to that in the famous Bake Off tent, as well as an appearance from her dog, Miffy the Pug.

The competition ran alongside the nation’s favourite baking show, the Great British Bake Off, on social media where it attracted lots of attention. Entrants were asked to follow a canine healthy recipe created by Barking Heads’ nutritional experts and transform them into a showstopping bake - a take on one of the TV show’s rounds.

Emma wins £50 worth of Barking Heads food. Her win was announced during the show’s final on Wednesday evening, coinciding with Candice’s victory, whose own pug Dennis made a guest appearance on the show’s final.

Paul Hunter, co-founder of Barking Heads, has said, “Congratulations to our star baker Emma; her creative entry captured the spirit of the Bark Off perfectly.

“The Great British Bark Off has been a great success. It has been fantastic to see people having a go at baking for their dogs using our recipe, and we hope we’ve shown that you can bake delicious treats for your pet which are healthy too.
