ATLAS PACKAGING TANK SUPPORT FOR MISSION:UNBREAKABLE

Yesterday, North Devon went commando for Mission:Unbreakable. With over 700 participants, it is estimated over £40,000 was raised for North Devon Hospice, a local charity committed to helping patients and their families coping with a life-threatening illness.

The event also saw the official unveiling of a to-scale World War II tank created entirely from corrugated cardboard: made by Atlas Packaging as part of their #ChallengeAtlas campaign. This was positioned on the finishing line of the course, enabling participators and spectators to interact and take images within the 1.5 meter tall tank.

#ChallengeAtlas was launched in June through social media promoting the ethos of Atlas Packaging: that you can really create anything with corrugated cardboard. The acceptance from Atlas Packaging took place in September with plans ever since building up to the grand unveiling of the World War II Tank to complement the commando course.

Stephen Roberts, Chief Executive at North Devon Hospice has said, “Having run Mission:Unbreakable, I can confirm it struck the perfect balance between being challenging and being a lot of fun for all those involved.

“What was particularly pleasing was to see so many people participate and support North Devon Hospice. To have over 500 participants wade up rivers, crawl through bogs and tackle obstacles over the 10k course and still be smiling at the end of it was fantastic - special mention has to go to 24 Commando whose support on the day was phenomenal.

“The World War II tank created by Atlas Packaging was a key landmark on the course. Adults and children alike were interested by the innovative model and enjoyed interacting with it and taking photographs”

Jason Sharman, Managing Director at Atlas Packaging commented, “We were impressed by the number of attendees on the day, both participating and spectating in the combat course led by 24 Commando, Royal Engineers.

“We are delighted the first #ChallengeAtlas helped a charity close to our hearts. Creating the tank was a lot of fun and we look forward to further challenges to show you can create anything with corrugated cardboard.

If you’d like to Challenge us to create something for your business or charity, we would love to hear your suggestions; the wackier the better! You can submit your challenges via social media and we will endeavour to create anything from corrugated cardboard.”
