NEW UK Dog Treat Manufacturer Huxley Hound

joins list of exhibitors at Discover Dogs 2016 to share

"Better Than Raw™" Vegetable Treats with show visitors

10 October:Emerging dog treat brand Huxley Hound announce that hot on heals of Pup Aid they will jump into the big time exhibiting at London's largest dog event - Discover Dogs - in October. The world's first fully traceable range of organic vegetables "Better Than Raw™" has been well received since its launch in the summer and Huxley Hound believe it is time to share their research and passion for the health and well-being of the nation's favourite pets to the visitors of Discover Dogs.

The range ‘Better Than Raw' ™ currently includes Carrot, Beetroot and Broccoli treats. After the autumn harvest parsnip becomes the fourth treat available. Sweet Potato treats will follow in early 2017.

[image]Husband and wife team - Mike and Zena Deane - came up with the vegetable treat idea when they started to prepare food and treats for their two long-haired miniature Dachshunds. Cream Huxley, and his chocolate coloured brother Rolo, have become part of the brand with a large social media following on Instagram and Facebook.

Mike states "We researched the pet food market, found a wide variety of quality dog food, but this was not the same for dog treats. Many seemingly healthy treats were very calorific or contained little nutritional value. Zena was adamant that our newest family members should have the best nutrition they could. So whilst following a raw food diet, she started to make her own treats for the boys!"

Zena continues "Mike had been working overseas all through 2015 and my idea that treats provided a business opportunity gave him the focus to review, create and develop a viable business. Our world has changed beyond recognition as we drive the business forward, having sold our family home and spent most of the year overseeing the development of an exciting new product alongside the creation of an eye-catching brand. She continues with a smirk "I myself have had fun with the social media channels, it is a great way to meet and associate with gorgeous dogs of all breeds."

Mike continues "I'm not sure I can remember back to early 2016 as so much has changed. Since the end of the summer we have taken our products into the public domain and have received great feedback from owners telling us that their dogs enjoyed the treats and at the same gives them peace of mind that they are giving a healthy treat. Attending Discover Dogs will give us the opportunity to share our vision and tell our story so far."

Dedicated to building the business on solid foundations from the beginning, the Deane's enlisted the help of the University of Nottingham School of Biosciences to examine the claim that the product is better than a raw vegetable and the results are conclusive. A Better than Raw™ carrot treat presents 1760% more anti-oxidants than its raw equivalent!* The new organic range provides a nutritionally superior treat that can complement wet, dry or raw feeding.

Zena concludes "We are amazed that in such a short space of time we have been accepted by dog owners across the UK as the company doing great things for the future health and well-being of dogs. We cannot wait to attend Discover Dogs and share facts from our research and introduce our vegetable treats to the most important market of all - caring dog owners.

They have been sent to over 700 dogs up and down the UK after a very successful social media Taste Test campaign and the first pouches were purchased by owners attending Pup Aid and the Deane's home Town Walton-on-Thames Heritage Day in September.

NOTES TO EDITORS:

Better Than Raw ™

Dogs can only extract minimal nutritional value from raw vegetables, because they cannot break down the vegetable fibres that contain the nutrients. Working with The School of Biosciences at Nottingham University, Huxley Hound has sought to develop the optimum vegetable dehydration process. This process unlocks the essential nutrients in the organic vegetables we use in our products, additive free. This means that Huxley Hound's fully traceable, organic vegetable dog treats will contain five times the goodness of the raw vegetable equivalent, making ‘Better Than Raw™' the ideal healthy treat for every dog.
