CAMPAIGN BEGINS FOR WEST MIDLANDS MAYORAL CANDIDATE AT LOCAL MANUFACTURING COMPANY CUBE PRECISION

A West Midlands-based manufacturing company welcomed a special guest last week at a special tour of the business.

Beverley Nielsen, the Liberal Democrat candidate for the first ever West Midlands mayoral election, started her campaign trail with a visit to leading local engineering company, Cube Precision Engineering.

With a shared passion for the region’s, and the UK’s, manufacturing industry, Nielsen’s tour of the Rowley Regis-based factory was an opportunity for the Cube Precision team to share their thoughts on key issues affecting competitiveness within the engineering sector and across the region.

Both parties were enthusiastic about the ‘Midlands Engine’, with hopes of the region receiving a fairer share of resources from national government.

The visit also offered a chance for Cube Precision’s directors to discuss with Nielsen how best to nurture the skills of young people within the industry, encouraging the future generation to continue the success of West Midlands’ industry and helping them start fruitful careers.

Neil Clifton, Managing Director of Cube Precision Engineering, said: “We were pleased we could offer Beverley a tour of our company. It was an opportunity for us to introduce her to our business and also talk about issues that are important to us.

“We built our business on the strong manufacturing heritage of Black Country and are committed to ensuring this area gets the support required to continue to thrive in the future.”

Following her tour of Cube Precision, Beverley Nielsen said, “Visiting local businesses such as Cube Precision and understanding their thoughts on industry is of great importance to me. Recognising the success of local businesses and young people is key to helping the West Midlands continue to thrive, which is why they are key focuses in my campaign.”
