Applied Driving Techniques wins Fleet Safety Award

APPLIED DRIVING TECHNIQUES WINS FLEET SAFETY AWARD

Applied Driving Techniques has scooped a prestigious industry accolade at the annual Fleet Safety Awards, organised by charity Brake. The company won the Fleet Safety Analysis and Action Award in recognition of its work with energy company SSE, which has resulted in the implementation of an innovative fleet compliance and risk management programme covering 14,000 drivers in the UK.

The fleet compliance and risk management programme covers all risk assessments, licence checking, grey fleet checking and permit to drive requirements. The initiative was developed by Applied Driving Techniques, in line with SSE’s corporate safety strategy, to achieve high levels of analysis and establish a targeted action plan to ensure the company is meeting its commitment to fleet safety and Duty of Care.

Andy Phillips, Director of Applied Driving Techniques said: “This award is recognition for the positive results we are achieving in partnership with SSE. For example, SSE has increased compliance of its Permit to Drive policy, while seeing a reduction in both speeding events and high risk drivers. The company is now well-placed to analyse, measure and minimise risk factors within the fleet operation, enabling it to take appropriate action to achieve the highest levels of road safety.”

Mark Laker, Management of Road Risk (MoRR) Project Manager at SSE commented: “By teaming up with ADT we have been able to ensure we are best placed to understand and minimise the risk factors a fleet operation faces in order to meet legal obligations, improve driver safety and ultimately save lives. We are committed to highest levels of road safety and ethical behaviour in everything we do, so better protecting our employees, the local community in areas we work in and the wider general public is an important business priority.”

The winning and the highly commended organisations at the Fleet Safety Awards were announced at a ceremony held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, which was attended by more than 350 business leaders and industry professionals.
