PRESS RELEASE

ASWAD'S FOUNDER BRINSLEY FORDE HEADLINES MUSIC EVENT AIMED AT HELPING CHILDREN IN DEPRIVED AREAS

Brinsley Forde MBE will be fronting aMessage is in the Musiccharity event in Gloucestershire on 24 September along with a host of internationally renowned musicians and artists. All profits from the event are going towards local community projects and children from deprived areas in Gloucestershire.

Message is in the Music is a funding vessel for community projects nationally and internationally. Adam David, founder ofMessage is in the Musicsays: ‘We give funding to programs that would not necessarily receive government grants or government funding of any description. Our aim is to raise funds through bespoke and carefully thought out events which encompass music, dance and comedy.Message is in the Music, is a pro-active organizationand a strong believer in change through acts of kindness.

‘We hope that our hard work creates smiles, laughter and joy in the communities that we serve and further afield.'

Brinsley, who is best known as the founder member of the successful reggae band Aswad and as a child actor in the children's television series Here Come the Double Deckers, says that events like this are important to raise awareness of what's missing in deprived areas for today's youth. ‘Inner city areas like Gloucester have been deprived of sports, arts, music and youth clubs as funding has been taken away. The first thing to go are arts and music, especially for ethnic minorities'.

‘The aim of these kinds of events is to deliver a message to the kids and to the people who can initiate change through our music and our art. We can all contribute in some way, and as a father...I am aware of what kids face today'.

‘I have always been a great believer in the power of the universal language of music. We can make people stand up and listen through our unity and strength.Message is in the Musicis a fantastic vehicle for this; it's our chance to change a situation and make it better.'

Adam adds: ‘We're so lucky to have Brinsley on board. On the 24 September he will besupported by The King Solomon Band, UK Gospel singer Philippa Hanna, UK Hip Hop Star Jelz Music, Out of The Ashes, Valerie Maxfield formerly of Groove Armada and some additional special guest performances.'

TheMessage is in the Musicevent on 24 September at the Bacon Theatre in Cheltenham is the inaugural fundraising event and it will be supporting Increase the Peace, Kings Table, YFC Gloucestershire, Samara's Aid Appeal and do it in association with CAMDA (Cheltenham Academy of Music and Dramatic Art).

Adam says: ‘Our vision is to continue to provide funding to inner city, urban and rural community projects that are in need of financial aid to fund their frontline work.'
