June 2016- Patrick Jones, general manager at the new Tewkesbury Park, which is just nearing the completion of a two-year £4 million renovation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Anuj Thakur, as the new executive chef. Spanning an impressive career of 15 years in the hospitality industry, 36-year-old Anuj Thakur originally from India, comes to The Tewkesbury Park from Dartington Hall, a grade-II historic medieval hotel, located in Totnes, Devon, where he achieved two AA rosettes for the White Hart Restaurant.

Thakur first commenced his career at one of India's finest old colonial hotels - The Oberoi Cecil Hotel, Shimla - a Leading Hotels of the World hotel.In 2002 a move to Miami, saw him join Carnival Cruises, where he was exposed to the huge varied operation of fine dining, banqueting and international cuisines. Four years later he moved to Scotland to the Hilton Dunkeld House Hotel, where he joined as senior chef de partie, gaining invaluable experience. In 2006, an opportunity presented itself for a position as sous chef at Smiths at Gretna Green and its two AA rosette restaurant. During his time there, the kitchen team were awarded the "Best Chefs Team in Scotland 2007" by Scotland's Tourism Awards

In 2010, the lure of a job offer to the south of England at Frimley Hall Hotel & Spa in Surrey, which holds two AA rosettes saw him overseeing the hotel's conference and banqueting operation. The following year, Thakur moved up the road to Windsor, to the sister property - Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa, as senior sous chef, where he had the opportunity to cater for Her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal family during Royal Ascot two years on the trot. During his time with Macdonald Hotels, Thakur achieved "Employee of the Year" award. In 2013, a move to the south west to the Torquay Imperial Hotel & Spa, saw him take up the reins as executive head chef, his first position with overall responsibility of the kitchen operations.

In his new role, he will oversee all the hotel's food & beverage outlets including the main Garden Restaurant, and the Health Club Restaurant, Greens, plus the brand new Orangery which offers a combination of brassiere-style dishes throughout the day. Other responsibilities to fall within his remit will include the development of menus for the hotel's conference and meeting business. Anuj will work closely with the F&B manager, to implement strategies, objectives and financial analysis of all F&B operations.

Tewkesbury Park's renovation has seen the brand new addition of nine luxury historic suites, two meeting rooms, an Orangery and a Cocktail Lounge. Besides the new additions, a complete refurbishment was carried out to its 85 guestrooms. Work to the main foyer and reception is scheduled for completion late spring. Furthermore, two new spa rooms will be finished early summer and the hotel's terrace which benefits from panoramic views of Tewkesbury and beyond, will have a hot tub and Alexander Rose furniture, allowing guests the chance to relax and take in the views and watch fellow guests play croquet on the lawns.

Tewkesbury Park has an 18-hole par 73 parkland golf course, academy course and practice range, putting green and pro shop. The Leisure Club features a sauna, steam room, indoor swimming pool, gym, squash and tennis courts. Tewkesbury Park is only five minutes from M5 junction nine, on the doorstep of Tewkesbury and within easy reach of Cheltenham, Gloucester and Worcester.
