Eye opening results from eco-classroom specialist's survey

Over the past three months, eco classroom specialists Inspired Building Systems have been talking to parents from across the UK and conducting an online survey to find out what they know about their children's schools. The results are in, and the team at the Birmingham based business believe that a good proportion of parents lack a fundamental understanding of their children's learning environment.

Inspired Building Systems found that:

  • 1/3 of parents admit that sustainability isn't important to them when they are selecting a school for their children to attend.

  • 57% of parents aren't aware that sustainable classrooms improve the wellbeing of staff and pupils.

  • 79% of parents know that air quality in a learning environment has an effect on a child's ability to learn.

  • 75% of parents did not know that sustainable classrooms can have a 25% positive impact on pupils grades... 5.7% don't believe that it is true.

  • 72% of parents do not know that temporary classrooms can have a serious effect on pupils learning and health.

  • 22% of parents say that their child's school uses temporary classrooms to cope with student intake numbers.

  • A whopping 85% of parents believe that it would be worth knowing more about Eco-Classrooms and the effects they can have on their children's learning.

Gavin Wilkes, Director at Inspired Building Systems said, "It turns out that parents, children, teachers and schools need to know more about how an eco-classroom and sustainable school environment can help to provide a better education for children across the UK."

Wilkes and his dedicated team have made it their mission to try and spread the word about the effects that a better environment can have in schools during 2016 and beyond.
